Building Faith, 22 -Year’s Ending

December 30, 2015

Christmas is not over. In many countries Christmas lasts far into the new year. But, it is time to consider the old year as it passes into history, a tired old man. We are expected to make resolutions, to enter the new year with expectations and enthusiasm. I expect I will comply.

The 22nd Psalm is a psalm about Jesus that I will take into 2016. It begins with the words Jesus spoke on the cross, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” God did not abandon Jesus, but restored him to his proper place in heaven. When I feel that God has forgotten me, I will remember David’s words, repeated by Jesus. God never forgets us.

I cherish Psalm 22, for it reminds me “I was thrust into your (God’s) arms at my birth. You have been my God from the moment I was born.” I am grateful for the love of my mother and grandmother, who, many years ago, thrust me into the arms of the Lord, and I cherish those who keep me there.

HAPPY NEW YEAR. dear reader.
