Listening to Jesus, Day 7 – Fog

August 11, 2015

Fog obfuscates, makes hidden that which is ordinarily seen. Have you ever ridden on a strange road in the early morning, when fog was lifting, or at night when fog rolls in? The sensation is awesome. When it lifts in the morning, fog is beautiful, its assent revealing the landscape as the sun creeps beneath it. At night fog is scary, for it hides the road and blurs the surrounding vistas. Best to rest as the fog settles in, seeking a quiet interlude before resuming the drive.

So it is with the problems I face in life. They appear, often unexpectedly, and seem to make unclear my life’s direction. When I rest in the care of our Lord, I can resume their solution with strength and purpose, and continue on a path that seems more direct. How great is our God!

(Psalm 73: 23- 24) Thou holds me by the hand. God guides me with His counsel and receives me to his glory.

(1 Corinthians 13: 12) Now we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know and I shall be known. ( I know I have used this verse many times, but it seems to apply often. It assures me that what is now hidden shall be revealed. With patience the fog will lift.)
