Listening To Jesus, Day 3 – Abundance

August 2, 2015

When I consider how abundantly I have been blessed, I sometimes feel guilty. Who am I to receive such abundance when so may are deserving but not fulfilled. The Lord does not make us equal in riches; he makes us equal in his love. We are all deserving, but circumstances get in the way to move forward. These circumstances can only be controlled by God, who gives each one talents to be used or ignored.

I particularly like the parable of the talents, but talents in earlier days were coins, or money. Three servants were given talents and told to guard them while the master was away. Two servants used their talents and increased them. The third servant buried his talent so that it could not be stolen. The master disapproved of the third servant’s use of his treasure, and removed his talents from him.

Sometimes it is difficult to know what talents you have been given or how to use those talents to honor God and enrich yourself. I hope that each person would use his talents and enjoy God’s presence in their distribution. The Lord wants me to receive his bounties with a grateful heart and use them with joy.

Every day is Christmas day.

(Psalm 23: 4) My cup runneth over.

(John 3: 16) For God so loved the world that he gave his only son so we would not perish, but have (a good) life.

(Luke 11: 9-10) Ask, and you shall receive; seek, and you shall find; knock, and the door shall be open for everyone.
