Following Jesus, Day 27 – “The Rivers of God”

July 7, 2015

The Santa Ana River bed is dry, cracked brown mud that once held water. I know that dry bed will again hold water and pass it down to the Pacific, nourishing the land as it goes. Rivers in Texas overflowed with rain, depositing slippery mud on streets and homes in its path. Already it is receding, leaving work to be done by clean-up crews.

God puts his rivers of love and compassion in the hearts of his people. They emanate from the Holy Spirit which we have been given. Jesus is alive and well in that spirit when we use it to respond to others with love, joy, and peace. Thanks be to God who lives in each one of us.

(John 8: 29) God is with us. He would never leave us alone.

(Hebrews 11: 3-6) Without faith it is impossible to please God; with faith all things are possible.

(Psalm 37: 4) Delight in the Lord, and he shall give you all things in your heart.
