Following Jesus, Day 5 – “Anxiety”

April 24, 2015

Why worry? Lingering in the future is fruitless. My uncle, in the midst of the cancer that eventually killed him, said,”Worry is like a rocking chair. It keeps you busy, but you get nowhere.” How much energy does worry consume? What good does anxiety do? Perhaps it keeps me a safe distance from the edge of a cliff, but good common sense provided by God will do the same. God is with me: past, present, and future, here and to the ends of the earth. To move forward, I must curtail anxiety. “What-if” be gone.

(Luke 12: 22-26) Jesus told his disciples, “Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat: neither for the body, what you shall wear. This life is more than meat, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the lilies; consider the ravens.”

(Ephesians 3: 19-29) Paul writes, “Know the love of Christ which passes understanding. He is able to provide all we ask or think. Unto him be the glory throughout the ages.”
