New York – Overture, part 3

February 14, 2013

Beth and Tim had searched the internet. They found the Warwick Hotel near Carnegie Hall with a triple A rating, a warm classic ambiance, marble bathrooms and king sized beds on 54th Street and 6th Avenue. Across the street was the large Hilton where the Oberlin orchestra and Kevin would be staying. And – for a Christmas present to further heighten our anticipation, Beth and Tim gave us tickets for Newsies a Disney musical none of us had seen.

Thus, armed with expectations, John and I drove to their home in Moorpark from our home in Tustin that Thursday afternoon, carry-on luggage tightly packed with sweaters, gloves, boots, and scarves prepared to survive the cold (and perhaps a little snow!). We were ready to bite the Big Apple.

Beth and Tim rushed home from work, packed, prepared their home for their absence, and managed to cook a deliightful dinner. We could only admire their industry and energy.

(to be contd.)
