Holding On

November 12, 2012

The calendar says it is time to decorate for fall, but the temperature hovers at 100 degrees. Summer wants to hang on, though soon the sun must submit to shorter days and longer nights.

I enjoy fall, when the earth prepares to sleep even in California. Before summer goes to bed, I trim bushers, set out seends and bulbs to prepare for the spring to come.

Autumn will not come until my house is decorated with pumpkins, crysanthemums, colorful leaves and the contents of foufr planstic bins of saved fall paraphenalia, but summer is hanging on tenaciously. Surely God will soon let it go.
